PRIVATE TUTOR & ACADEMIC MENTOR
A PERSONAL APPROACH TO LEARNING
ENGLISH, WRITING & TEST PREP for GMAT, SAT, ASVAB
The ability to communicate well in English is one of the
most important keys to success. Speech and writing that is persuasive, creative, and gramatically correct will be better
understood and remembered, and thus will have the most
powerful impact.
I'm patient, insightful, and experienced and I love
teaching successful math skills to others. To this end
I work with a select number of students, helping them
improve their performance - for academic subjects as
well as for standardized test prep. My private tutoring
sessions are all one-on-one with the student.
My rate for tutoring is $40 per hour, or save
by prepaying for ten or more sessions in advance at
the rate of only $35 per hour.
I work with students - elementary through graduate
school - as well as life long learners who have specific
learning objectives.
Start fulfilling a more powerful future now. It's easy
to schedule private, one-on-one sessions with John
in Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada.Telephone and
video sessions are also available for clients worldwide
via SKYPE on the internet.
Interested? Just email or call me to find out more
about how I might be able to help improve your or your
student's academic performance - I'm looking forward
to hearing from you.

Dr John De Witt first developed an interest in the written and spoken word in the mid-1970s, when he worked as a staff announcer and advertising copy writer at a major FM radio station in San Francisco, California. Impressed by the ability of a few well chosen words to influence listener behavior, he began investigating other areas in which powerful, and often beneficial, effects of the spoken word were manifested: hypnosis, neurolinguistic programming, and the use of guided imagery for behavior modification.
Feeling limited by the lack of any rigorous theoretical framework for understanding these phenomena in the commercial world, he eventually earned a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Nevada, with a focus on communication, persuasion, and discourse analysis: the study of how people do things with words, in conversation and in speech intended to inform or influence.
After completing his doctoral level coursework, he ran Nevada's first statewide public opinion research firm, and then co-founded the state's first full time jury and trial consulting firm. In the course of those enterprises, he has written hundreds of reports and given oral presentations to countless clients, as well as to many corporate executives and governmental groups, including members of the Nevada Supreme Court and committees of the Nevada Legislature. In the course of conducting research projects, he has interviewed thousands of research subjects about a wide range of issues, and gained a deep understanding of the communication factors that influence people's attitudes and behavior.
More recently, he was the co-founder of a small independent press; in that capacity he edited books for others, including one for the chairman of the creative writing program at a major university. Subsequently, he wrote a novella, and recently edited and wrote the introduction to a book of the collected works of an early California poet.
Currently, he is devoting his time to teaching effective oral and written communication strategies to a select group of motivated individuals who seek excellence on their path to success.
